Lovin’ at the crack of dawn
If there’s one thing I absolutely love it’s waking up at the crack of dawn to capture an epic pre-wedding shoot! No ok, the rolling out of bed bit is rough, but what you’re treated with at the very beginning of the morning, is one of Londons best kept parks without a soul around, just perfection! Greenwich Park, which overlooks the Thames winding its way through the centre of London really is one of my favourite places to shoot. It has patches of wild grass that makes it feel as though you’re in the middle of the countryside, alongside birds flying to and from the surrounding trees, but give it an hour or so, and the whole area becomes a hive of communal living! Dog walkers, training camps, all doing their thing while you’re sat for a post pre-wedding shoot cuppa!
Believe it or not, both Issy & Mike were pretty nervous about having their pictures taken (you’d never know right?). But I reckon after just two shots, they were both nestling down and enjoying each others company with me mooching around. Actually, it’s one of the soul reasons I always do a pre-wedding shoot with every wedding I take on. Firstly because capturing more of their epic story together is super important to me, but even more importantly, it’s because half the trick to getting those perfect wedding day pictures is all about being super comfy. Not only in front of the camera but also with me. So basically it feels like you’re not being photographed by just another photographer but by a real friend. Then once that level of comfort is reached, you can fool around being yourselves without a worry in the world. It’s awesome! And to see that exact thing happen to Issy & Mike makes the heart feel pretty full!
Photographing these guys in Greenwich Park has been something I’ve looked forward to for a long time! And after chatting about their incredible upcoming wedding day at one of Oxford Universities gorgeous colleges, you just knew that this was going to be something truly special! And with their awesome sense of fun, their pre-wedding shoot alone was just a total blast from beginning to end! I can only imagine what the wedding day holds for us, eeeeek!
